Actor reveals viagra help his marriage.

Ageing Actor (Michael Douglas) has told how he keeps up the excitement in his marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones - with sexual enhancement such as Viagra.

Wall Street star Michael, 65, has been wed to the Welsh beauty, 40, since 2000.

He said: "God bless her that she likes older guys. And some wonderful enhancements have happened in the last few years - Viagra, Cialis - that can make us all feel younger.

"At least in your head, your fire burns as brightly."

He and Catherine have never been shy about showing their affection for each other and are often seen strolling hand-in-hand or canoodling romantically.

Michael told the American Association of Retired Persons' magazine that since settling down with Catherine, he was finally learning to put her first, along with their nine-yearold son Dylan and daughter Carys, six.

The actor frankly acknowledged he should have been a better dad to Cameron, 31, his son with first wife Diandra Luker, whom he divorced 10 years ago.

Michael was admitted to rehab in 1990, reportedly for sex addiction.

Cameron is now in jail, awaiting trial for selling thousands of dollars' worth of drugs.

He was previously arrested for possessing cocaine and could now face life in prison, if found guilty.

His father candidly owned up: "I'll assume whatever responsibilities I have to.

"Would it have been better to have been around more? Absolutely. There were absences and I was no angel. Cameron has a lot of life ahead. He now recognises his own demons and struggles."

Dad-of-three Michael said that, despite Cameron being a "tough kid", he remained anxious about him.

The star said: "He's in a federal prison, and you've got some big, bad boys down there."

Cameron is accused of using the courier service FedEx to ship huge quantities of methamphetamine pills from California to New York. He was arrested in a hotel in New York's Manhattan district.

Michael won the second of his two Oscars for 1987's Wall Street and this April he appears in the sequel, Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps.

However, he said he was now happy to let his career take a back seat to his wife's films and to his family.

His actor dad Kirk and mum Diana split when the star was six. Michael said he wanted his two youngsters to have a happier childhood than he and Cameron had.

He said: "I think it's easier for me to be a good father. I'm not so concerned about my career. I see the confidence my kids have got versus the struggle for confidence that I had or that Cameron might have dealt with."

'Viagra for women, is that true?

Flibanserin, the real an anti-depressant, has shown gift in treating few libido among women, three separate clinical trials results.

These trials were the first ever to test a therapy that works at the level of the brain to enhance libido in women reporting low sexual desire, said John M. Thorp, professor of obstetrics and gynaecology, University of North Carolina (UNC).

Results show that treatment with 100 mg of flibanserin once daily boosts the number of satisfying sexual events (SSE), sexual desire and sexual functioning. "Flibanserin was a poor anti-depressant," Thorp, also the principal study investigator said. "However, astute observers noted that it increased libido in lab animals and human subjects."

"So, we conducted multiple clinical trials and the women in our studies who took it for hypoactive sexual desire disorder reported significant improvements in sexual desire and satisfactory sexual experiences," said Thorp.

"It's essentially a Viagra-like drug for women in that diminished desire or libido is the most common feminine sexual problem, like erectile dysfunction is in men," Thorp added.

Studies have shown that the prevalence of hypoactive (inactive) sexual desire disorder in the US ranges between nine percent and 26 percent of women, depending on age and menopausal status.

Flibanserin is currently an investigational drug and is available only to women taking part in clinical trials, said a UNC release.

Elaine E. Jolly, professor at the University of Ottawa, Thorp and colleagues, pooled data from three clinical trials of flibanserin conducted in the US, Canada and Europe.

A total of 1,946 pre-menopausal women aged 18 and older were randomised to receive either flibanserin or placebo for 24 weeks, with four weeks of pre-treatment and four weeks of post-treatment follow-up.

These results were presented Monday at the Congress of the European Society for Sexual Medicine in Lyon, France.

'Viagra cream' the new safer drug.

New cream to allow erectile dysfunction medicine to be applied fast to our under skin could make them safer to use, say us scientists.

Studies in rats suggest that Viagra, Levitra and Cialis could pass through the skin in tiny capsules, they say.

The research, published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, could mean fewer side-effects, and even significantly speed up the drug's action.

However, it could be a decade before creams are fully ready for use.

The arrival of erectile dysfunction treatments in tablet form has been one of the success stories of the modern pharmaceutical industry, with some estimates suggesting that tens of millions of men worldwide have used them.

However, although they have worked for many men, they also carry the risk of side-effects such as headaches, blurred vision or upset stomachs.

In addition, men with severe heart problems, or who have just suffered a stroke, are advised to avoid the tablets altogether or use them with extreme caution.

Less risk

For many, this could be solved by the development of the cream, with would confine more of the active ingredients of the drug to a single area of the body, rather than circulating them widely.

The research team at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University, in New York, used nanoparticles, each much smaller than a grain of pollen, and found a way to encapsulate particles of the drug inside.

Their early tests involved just a few rats bred to have erectile dysfunction later in life.

Of these, 11 were treated with nanoparticles containing Cialis, a newer erectile dysfunction drug called sialorphin, and nitric oxide, a chemical also needed to widen blood vessels and produce an erection, often reduced in men with diabetes. All of the rats showed improvement, unlike seven rats given empty nanoparticles instead.

Dr Kelvin Davies, one of the researchers, said: "The response time to the nanoparticles was very short, just a few minutes, which is basically what people want in an erectile dysfunction medication. "In both rats and humans, it can take 30 minutes to one hour for oral erectile dysfunction medications to take effect." The researchers found no signs of local inflammation or damage caused by the nanoparticles, and no evidence of wider side-effects. Clinical studies in humans could begin in a few years if animal studies continued to suggest the treatment was safe, they said. However, finally getting the drug approved for widescale use could take 10 years or more, they said.

Viagra used by sports men and women

During its development phase, the manufacturer intended the drug to be used to treat PAH and angina.

If the arteries in the chest contract or are blocked, this can cause pain and, if not treated, increases blood pressure and can cause a stroke or heart attack. Viagra is a phosphodiesterase (PDE5) inhibitor. PDE is a chemical messenger found in different parts of the body. It tells an artery to contract. By inhibiting it, arteries dilate. This reduces blood pressure and allows blockages to clear. Testing PDE5, the research staff found men reporting improved sexual performance. This lucky accident launched a great new drug.

The original work on PAH continued and the FDA gave its approval for use in 2005. This new version of the drug now more specifically targets the arteries in the chest and has proved highly effective to relieve pain in adult patients. However, the drug is also being tested on babies who are born with PAH. Obviously, the dose is small but, with careful monitoring while the baby is in the respirator, the early results are very encouraging. The only question is whether long term use will prove safe. Researchers are conducting trials to find out whether physical growth is affected if the baby has lower blood pressure.

Use by sports men and women It has come as a surprise to those responsible for administering sport at a top level that many professional athletes have been using viagra in their training. The recent BALCO scandal in the US has highlighted the way in which athletes bend the rules on drug use to gain an unfair advantage on the playing field. Because viagra dilates blood vessels, it improves the circulation and carries oxygen to the muscles more quickly. This is said to improve endurance. But this may be just a myth. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has now commissioned research to prove whether athletes get a real advantage. If the scientific evidence shows unfair benefits, viagra will be added to the list of banned substances. This will have one ironic consequence. Male athletes who suffer from erectile dysfunction will have to find a different way to treat their sexual problems. Perhaps this is the reason why the US administrators for professional sports such as baseball and football have no plans to ban viagra.

Altitude sickness When people start climbing above sea level, they can begin to experience problems. The higher they go, the thinner the air and so the harder the lungs have to work to extract oxygen. Research carried out in 2007 suggests that viagra may be an effective treatment for high-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) - a potentially fatal condition unless the victim can quickly be transported to a hospital at low altitude. So if you are climbing or camping in remote areas at high altitude, you may save your life if you carry viagra with you. The results of the tests show that it rapidly improves your lungs’ ability to absorb oxygen.

Viagra: Unbiased drug for your erection problem.

Sildenafil was the first oral erection problem treatment drug that was responsible for bringing about a great next step revolution to fight erectile dysfunction.

Learn how Viagra motivated men to discuss about their impotence problems more openly and how it works to treat impotence.

Viagra is a drug that brought in a sexual revolution in the society. Massive and motivated advertising campaigns launched by Pfizer pharmaceuticals, the proud makers of the drug, forced men to discuss the most hush-hush subject of impotence. Even doctors admit that Viagra helped bring the issue of impotence to the forefront, something that they were miserably failing at, however hard they tried.

According to various health surveys, 1 in 10 men suffer from impotence but before the arrival of Viagra a miniscule number of men 'dared' to discuss the subject with their doctor. However, after the launch of Viagra there was a dramatic change in this scenario. A large number of men started demanding impotence treatment. To be more precise they started demanding Viagra to treat their impotence.

The overwhelming response to the drug shows how desperately people were awaiting a convenient option to treat impotence. As soon as it was launched in March 1998, Viagra was declared a blockbuster drug. It means that this drug alone did a business of over $1bn that year. In fact, Viagra had the most successful first year of any drug that has ever been launched. About 3 million prescriptions for Viagra had been written just in the first 14 weeks of its release in the US alone.
